Teral Vertical Centrifugal Pumps

PFS Pumps supplies facilities of all sizes and in a variety of industries with vertical centrifugal pumps. These pumps, which are sometimes also referred to as cantilever pumps, work using a unique configuration of the shaft and bearing support in which the volute hangs inside the pump and the bearings hang outside the pump.

Our clients have the option of choosing from a variety of readymade vertical centrifugal pumps or depending on their unique needs, may opt to have one custom designed for their facility.

Additionally, our company offers installation, maintenance, and training to ensure that your new pump works the way it should for your business.

How vertical centrifugal pumps work

Typically, these types of pumps operate generally using an AC electric induction motor. There are one or more rotating impellers attached to a shaft on one end of the pump. The pump directs liquid into the casing.

In a multi-stage process, when liquid enters the pump through the suction bell, it is moved by the first impeller. The liquid is then directed into the diffuser bowl or casing before being moved by the next impeller. This is extremely useful when the pump is being used to pump water from a very deep well.

Once the water has gone through the last diffuser bowel, it is directed through a vertical pipe that contains a spinning shaft. The pump discharge head then allows the liquid to flow toward the discharge pipe.

Types of vertical centrifugal pumps

  • Single-stage – this type has one impeller to move the liquid.
  • Multi-stage – this type uses two or more impellers to move the liquid, allowing liquid to flow a greater distance.

Advantages of vertical centrifugal pumps

Vertical centrifugal pumps are an ideal choice for industries that need to handle slightly abrasive solid media. These pumps are also excellent for handling fluids that are at hot temperatures.

Additionally, vertical centrifugal pumps have a much smaller footprint than their horizontal counterparts. This makes them a good option when you have restricted floor space. (The drawback, of course, is that for a vertical pump, you will need more headspace than you would for a horizontal pump)

Industries and applications

In addition to sump pump applications, vertical centrifugal pumps are used in a number of industries in which it is necessary to pass and process liquids and slurries. Some industries include:

  • Mineral process plants
  • Steel mills
  • Chemical plants
  • Wastewater treatment plants

OUR CUSTOMERS:

We have now been running our new Travaini vacuum pump for two months continuously for 24 hours, 6 days a week. While 2 months doesn’t seem long to judge its performance, I would just like you to know how very please we are with it. But most of all, I thank you for the concern and your great effort to provide me with a vacuum pump when I desperately needed one. You have no competition when it comes to supply and service. Your attitude and assistance to me when I needed help is to be commended.

Frank Hudson, Innova Envolope

We installed our first Travaini pump more than two years ago…and we haven’t touched it since. Travaini liquid ring vacuum pumps have outperformed the others

David Maggs, Newdon Industries

We have tried other pumps but have found them to be less efficient and less effective. Travaini pumps are our pump of choice because of their consistent strength with regards to performance and durability.

Don Kennedy, KMI Pulp Machines Inc.

All seems to be running well, no problems. Replacement pump was needed, we had it in 2 days. Repaired our pump in 1 week. Fast service, fast problem solving, great customer service
