PFS Pumps is your go-to source for Liquid Ring Compressors. If you are looking for a top-quality product and expert installation and maintenance, you can count on PFS to meet the needs of your business.
We offer both SAO high-pressure oil-free, and TR low-pressure models of liquid ring compressors.
What is a liquid ring compressor?
A liquid ring compressor is very similar to a rotary vane compressor. Its main difference is that it uses a rotating ring of liquid to compress the chamber seal. Like a rotary vane compressor, a liquid ring compressor also has the advantage of being very low friction as the rotor is the only moving part of the device.
Some of the advantages of liquid ring compressors are that they offer steady gas flow with pressure fluctuations being minimal; they are smooth running devices with a low noise level; their performance level at part load and full load is quite good. Since there is only one moving part, liquid ring compressors require very little maintenance. They are also nonsparking, which makes them suitable for the compression of explosive or flammable gases.
Add all this to the fact that they have a small footprint and are reasonably light and compact, which makes them well suited to numerous industries and services.
Types of liquid ring compressor
The two main types of liquid ring compressors are single acting and double acting.
- With a single acting liquid ring compressor, the impeller has been installed eccentrically in the compressor shell. The gas divider is disc shaped and equipped with an inlet and compression discharge port for gas moving through the unit. The device produces one gas injection and one compressor each time the impeller rotates.
- With a double acting liquid ring compressor, there are two sets of inlets and discharge channels. The impeller operates around the gas distributor and allows for the impeller and compressor to be compressed twice per rotation.
Applications for liquid ring compressors
Liquid ring compressors are commonly used in many industrial processes including:
- Water treatment
- Chemical processing
- CO2 treatment
- Chlorine compression
- Ozone bleaching
- Flare gas recovery applications
